What do you know about these ';white squirels?';?

I live in Missouri and my dad spotted a white squirel in my neighborhood and took pics of it...Now hes very curious on what it is... Do you know what this squirel could be? do you think its albino or what? anything will help! thanks :]What do you know about these ';white squirels?';?
Sightings of white squirrels are actually fairly common in your area. Marionville, MO, claims to be the ';Home of the White Squirrel,'; but so do Olney, IL, and Kenton, TN. The squirrels are indeed albino, but no one knows for sure why there are colonies of them in these three towns.

Here's an article about Marionville you might enjoy, and it's quite informative:

According to the above article, their eyes are red, but sometimes appear dark because of the way the light hits them. What do you know about these ';white squirels?';?
most likely albino or it is a genetic problem that has spread instead of dying out
Grad,

A 'white squirrel' is an albino squirrel. It comes from a recessive gene, like when you breed brother and sister animals.
It is probably an albino gray squirrel -

Is this what they look like?

If so - pretty cool but not unheard of. There are also populations which have black versions as well.

More than likely it's albino........

I live near an area that has BLACK squirrels. I'd often wondered what would happen if I trapped a few black squirrels %26amp; released them in an area with alot of white squirrels? What do you get if you crossed an Albino with a Melanistic squirrel?
