Mrs Nutt is over-run by squirels.....?

A woman in Northern Ireland says her home has been over-run by grey squirrels.





Oonagh Nutt, from Moira in County Down, says the animals first came into her garden from an adjoining park six years ago, but in the last 18 months they got too close for comfort.





';I thought it was lovely, I called one of them Hazel but then the next thing they'd got into the house,'; she said.





Mrs Nutt says the squirrels have caused serious damage: ';They chewed their way through my roof in several places, they tunnel through the cavity walls, they live under the floor boards, they go to the toilet in the attic.





';I have a small child in the house and regularly at night the scratching and chewing and moving about will wake him up.';





Mrs Nutt says she's spent thousands of pounds trying to tackle the problem.





';I've had pest control round putting poison down in the roof space and travel routes through the house. But then they died inside the cavity walls and the house is infested with flies. It's a nightmare.





';We've had squirrel catchers, traps, lights, sonar. Everything but the kitchen sink.';





Mrs Nutt is unhappy with the attitude of her local council to the pest problem.





';I rang Lisburn City Council three times and have been told in short to go away. They say they're not a pest so there's nothing they can do.';

lololol. i suggest she changes her name. Everyone knows Squirrels are attracted to nutts.

i would take my case to the local Ombudsman ... there is lack of care %26amp; performance by her council. she has an infestation %26amp; no matter what is 'infesting' - it is a problem that needs sorting. i think she would win %26amp; the Ombudsman would recommend that the council act.
My brother and sister in law have invested in an air rifle with telescopic sight. They are elimanting the blighters one by one and are winning the battle.





I would have some poison put down OUTSIDE. She could also borrow a dog or a ferret.
Send in R Steph, she has an amazing effect on small fluffy animals(eg wabbits), some times flying ones (eg pigeons) the occasional deer and general livestock (licensed to cull bulls) LOL





NB this list is not exhaustive....
She should get in touch with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, he will have a squirrel on a skewer for those that can come out for a daily shoot.
she should open a squirrel farm.

i'm just guessing...but aren't squirrels a kind of rodent?...i suggest Mrs.Nutt get a cat...

HA! At first I thought this was a post by one of my mother's students! (She's a teacher. But we live in America and her first name is not Oonagh).





That's crazy! I don't think it's the city council's problem though. I'd suggest that she gets a pellet rifle (like a BB gun) and shoot the little rascals, or put out some lovely DCon.
